Frequently Asked Questions About My Services

If you have questions, you’re in the right place!

Whether you're looking to improve your website, strengthen your search visibility, fix technical SEO issues or need ongoing digital support, I've put together answers to some of the questions I hear most often.

If you don't see what you're looking for, feel free to reach out. I'm always happy to talk through what's going on and help determine the best next step.

Can you fix an existing website, or do I need a new one?

In many cases, your existing website can be improved without starting over. I usually begin by identifying what's actually holding it back, whether that's technical SEO, performance, structure, UX, content or a combination of issues. If the foundation is workable, I'd rather improve what you already have than recommend a rebuild simply because it's the bigger project.

How do I get started working with you?

Start by reaching out through my contact page or email me at email@micschut.com. Tell me a little about your website, what isn't working, or what you're trying to improve. I'll ask a few questions and recommend the best next step.

Why do you use the phrase “well-oiled machine” for websites?

Because a good website should do more than look good. Its structure, SEO, content, UX and technical setup should work together smoothly and reliably. That's what I mean when I talk about turning a website into a well-oiled machine.

How long does a website audit take?

It depends on the size and complexity of the website and the issues being investigated. Most audits can be completed within several business days, but I'll confirm the expected turnaround before we start.

What website platforms do you work with?

I regularly work with Wix, Shopify, Squarespace, WordPress and Lovable, as well as automotive websites powered by Dealer Accelerate from Speed Digital.

I don't believe every website problem requires a rebuild or a different platform. Whenever possible, I focus on improving what you already have through better structure, technical SEO, performance, content and UX.

What is your typical project timeline?

Timelines depend on the scope. A focused audit or technical fix may take only a few days, while larger website, SEO or strategy projects can take several weeks. I'll outline the expected timeline before work begins.

Can you help me with Wix SEO?

Yes. I'm a Wix Partner with extensive experience improving Wix websites for technical SEO, structure, performance and search visibility. I work within the platform to address issues such as metadata, redirects, indexing, structured data, page structure and performance rather than automatically recommending a rebuild.

What is a website performance audit?

A website performance audit looks at the technical and user-facing issues that may be holding your site back. I review areas such as speed, Core Web Vitals, technical SEO, structure, usability and overall site health, then provide clear recommendations on what should be fixed and prioritized.

Can you help if I don't know what's wrong with my website?

Absolutely. You don't need to diagnose the problem before contacting me. Maybe traffic has dropped, pages aren't being indexed, rankings have disappeared, the website feels slow or visitors simply aren't converting. Finding the problem is part of what I do, and I can look at the technical setup, SEO, UX, content and available data to determine what's actually holding the site back.

What do you mean by digital strategy?

Digital strategy means looking beyond one individual website or marketing task and understanding how the pieces work together. That can include your website, SEO, content, analytics, customer journey, CRM and other digital channels. I help identify gaps, prioritize opportunities and determine where your time and budget can make the biggest impact.

Do I need to sign a contract?

For most projects, I'll provide a clear written scope outlining the work, timeline, deliverables and payment terms before we begin. For larger or ongoing engagements, a more formal agreement may be appropriate. Either way, expectations are documented upfront.

What types of projects do you take on?

I focus primarily on websites, SEO and digital strategy. That includes website audits and troubleshooting, technical SEO, website performance, UX improvements, structured data, content management, ongoing maintenance and broader digital strategy.

Sometimes the problem is very specific. Other times, you just know your website isn't performing the way it should. Either way, I can help identify what's holding it back and determine what needs fixing.

How are your SEO Plans structured?

My SEO plans are designed around the level of support a website needs, from foundational technical and on-page improvements to ongoing optimization, content and growth strategy. I tailor the priorities to the site rather than applying the same checklist to every business. Ongoing plans typically require enough time to implement changes and measure their impact.

How do I request a quote?

Reach out through my contact page or email me with a little information about your website and what you need help with. Once I understand the scope, I can recommend an approach and provide a tailored estimate.

Can you help with graphic design or logo design?

My background is in graphic design, and that experience still plays an important role in how I approach websites, UX and visual communication. However, I no longer take on standalone logo design, branding or traditional graphic design projects. My work today is focused primarily on websites, SEO and digital strategy.

How does SEO help my website perform better?

SEO helps search engines understand, crawl and surface your website while also encouraging a better experience for visitors. Strong SEO can improve search visibility, qualified traffic and conversions by combining solid technical foundations with useful content, clear structure and good UX.

What experience do you have?

I bring nearly two decades of experience across design, websites and digital marketing, including more than 10 years focused on SEO and digital strategy. That mix gives me both a technical and visual perspective when diagnosing website problems, improving user journeys and building stronger digital foundations.

Do you offer SEO services?

Yes. SEO is one of my primary areas of focus, particularly technical and on-page SEO. I work on crawling and indexing, website architecture, internal linking, structured data and schema markup, Search Console issues, page speed, local SEO, content optimization and overall search visibility. I also consider how site structure and content can support visibility in AI-powered search experiences.

What types of clients do you work with?

I work with small businesses, schools, nonprofits, dealerships and professional organizations, as well as agencies and internal teams that need additional web or SEO expertise.

You don't need a huge project or an entire marketing department. I can step in for a specific problem, provide ongoing support or work alongside the people you already have.

Do you offer ongoing website maintenance?

Yes. I offer ongoing website maintenance and support for clients who need regular updates, monitoring, troubleshooting and performance improvements. The level of support can be tailored around what your website actually needs.

Will you fix Google Search Console errors?

Yes. I use Google Search Console to investigate indexing, crawling, structured data and other search-related issues. Not every warning requires action, so I first determine what actually matters, then fix or prioritize the issues that can affect site health and search visibility.

What is technical SEO?

Technical SEO focuses on making it easier for search engines to crawl, understand and index your website. It can include site architecture, internal linking, structured data, canonicalization, redirects, page speed, Core Web Vitals, mobile usability and resolving relevant Search Console issues.

How do I know if I need a website audit?

An audit is useful when rankings or traffic have dropped, pages aren't indexing, the site feels slow, conversions are weak, or you simply aren't sure what's holding the website back. It can also be valuable before a redesign, migration or larger SEO investment so decisions are based on evidence rather than guesswork.

What are your rates?

Rates depend on the scope, complexity and type of support you need. I offer both project-based work and ongoing support for SEO and Web Maintenance, and I'll provide a clear estimate once I understand what you're trying to accomplish.

Do you work with clients internationally?

Yes. I'm based in St. Louis, Missouri, but work remotely with clients across the U.S. and internationally. Most projects can be handled completely online through email, video calls and shared project tools.

If you're local, I'm always happy to meet over coffee too.

What tools do you use to audit websites?

The tools depend on the problem I'm investigating. I regularly use Google Search Console, Google PageSpeed Insights and Lighthouse, Screaming Frog, schema and structured-data testing tools, analytics platforms and platform-specific diagnostics. The goal isn't to generate automated scores; it's to interpret the data and identify what actually needs attention.

What happens after the audit?

You'll receive a prioritized explanation of what I found, what matters most and what I recommend fixing. Depending on the audit, that may cover technical SEO, performance, UX, content and site structure. You can use the findings with your own team or continue working with me on implementation.
